  … For a fact, the United States and more important, the world has experienced a flood of interest in knowing the future and who one really is ¾ as a result hundreds of millions have turned to the ancient occultic art of astrology. Astrology claims to have knowledge and solutions to these basic inner questions of the heart. Astrologers today offer daily horoscopes and astrological knowledge to predict individuals’ futures. “What’s your sign?” is often a work-day question. Yet many thousands of years ago, the world in the same manner had turned to astrology for its future and life to live today. As a result, the Creator God was incensed and stuck humankind with a great world catastrophe. Do you know about it and why it happened, and what is going on again today that may again cause the wrath of God to intervene? Well, after our second moment of music I’ll return to tell you about it. … What is astrology? “Astrology is an ancient practice that assumes that the position of the stars and planets has a direct influence upon peoples’ lives and events.”  Why the modern craze for astrology goes back some 5000 years, when Babylonian scholars puzzled over the earth’s movements in relations to heavenly bodies began ascribing deified powers to the twelve “houses” into which they divided the universe (The Zodiac). We find an ancient account that tells us when humankind devoted its lives to this quest, that even the Creator of all things came down to see what human beings had done as a result. Let’s look at the record of this and from there find some answers about astrology. In the Bible we read,

Gen 11:1-9  “At one time the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words. 2 As the people migrated eastward, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. 3 They began to talk about construction projects. “Come,” they said, “let’s make great piles of burnt brick and collect natural asphalt to use as mortar. 4 Let’s build a great city with a tower that reaches to the skies—a monument to our greatness! This will bring us together and keep us from scattering all over the world.” 5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 “Look!” he said. “If they can accomplish this when they have just begun to take advantage of their common language and political unity, just think of what they will do later. Nothing will be impossible for them! 7 Come, let’s go down and give them different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.” 8 In that way, the LORD scattered them all over the earth; and that ended the building of the city. 9 That is why the city was called Babel , because it was there that the LORD confused the people by giving them many languages, thus scattering them across the earth.”

Now immediately, there is no mention of astrology here, just the quest to build a city with a tower that reached the skies! (Gen. 11:4). However, the building of the city of Babel was a project intended to signify and promote the unity of nations without the God of Creation. How can we say that? Well God tells us in Revelation 17-18 that human history begins and ends with “ Babel .” Here in Genesis 11, is man’s first attempt to build such a city and a world without the one true God as head of all things. For this reason, we are told God came down to see it and consequently judged it. You see, God refuses to be ruled out of human affairs, He is the Creator and Owner of the universe. Now the key to this is found in Genesis 11:4,

Gen 11:4 (NNAS)  “They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.””

The goal of these anti-god builders was to have (1) political unity, symbolized by the city and along with it, (2) religious unity, symbolized by that great tower. Now the expression, “whose top reaches into heaven,” was not a quest to build the world’s highest building; rather it was to be a tower, “and its top’ with’ the heavens!” They wanted a tower that point to the heavens with its top displaying the signs of  their heavenly “ZODIAC.” Astronomical and astrological data were to be associated with that tower, for the one true God was not in their thoughts. Stargazing and occultism were the features of their religious system. For this God the Creator was concerned.

Now, what does God think about astrology? Well astrology for starters, is based upon the premise that the planets revolve around the earth known as the “geocentric theory.” This theory of ancient man was shown to be in error by the studies of Copernicus, who proved that the planets revolve around the sun, not the earth in our solar system. Now since all astrology is based upon this refuted theory, its reliability is absolutely destroyed! But nonetheless, millions still follow astrology’s concepts and ideas. Yes, the idea is the position of these planets has a definite influence upon human behavior and events because the universe is the real “god” of humankind. However, God warned about such thinking and seeking…

Rom 1:18-23 (NNAS)  “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; [MAN’S CONSCIENCE] for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, [THE UNIVERSE & HEAVENS] so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. [THE CREATION WORSHIPPED]”

This Tower of Babel was man’s ultimate expression of rejection of the Creator in favor of the “god” of self-making, that is the universe or “mother nature.” Now God realizes that sinful fallen rebellious humankind will seek to worship something, and if we refuse to seek Him, we will turn to the creation and worse to demonic spirits who seek to win the hearts of all men to their cause of rebellion to God. Astrology is a “window” through which people can come into contact with the occult world of demonism and begin the idolatrous worship of the creature rather than the Creator. Because of this, God literally condemns astrology! Listen again to what God says about seeking astrology to tell us the future, or who you are...

Deu 4:19 (NNAS)  “”And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.”

Isa 47:13-15 (NNAS)  “”You are wearied with your many counsels; Let now the astrologers, Those who prophesy by the stars, Those who predict by the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you. 14 “Behold, they have become like stubble, Fire burns them; They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame…”

Jer 8:2 (NNAS)  “”They will spread them out to the sun, the moon and to all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have gone after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or buried; they will be as dung on the face of the ground.”

Pretty strong words from God the Creator, to all who seek after the stars as an influence on their lives. But the crux of the Bible’s case against the idolatrous worship of the stars, called astrology, comes from Isaiah’s question,

Isa 8:19 (NNAS)  “When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?”

Equating astrology with idolatry the Bible considers both to be empty of any real content. God further says to us all,

Jer 10:2-3 (NKJV)  “Thus says the LORD: “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are futile..”

Then in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul shows us that astrology is futile.

Rom 8:38-39 (NNAS)  “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

You see, in the original Greek of the Bible’s origin, Paul used the astronomical terms ¾  zenith and nadir ¾ to show no celestial forces exist, which can separate the Christians from God’s love. Although tens or even hundreds of millions worldwide are fascinated with the “Zodiac” and astrology, it is simply another delusion for people seeking escape from responsibility to the holy Creator God of the universe. Astrology is therefore a forbidden idolatrous worship of the Creation and worse, the demon inspired powers behind it.

Yes, the real danger of astrology lies in trying to live your life by a horoscope that has no basis in reality. As such you run the risk of great loss economically, emotionally, and spiritually by the mindless advice given. Secondly and more dangerous is the fact that you are communing with the demonic spirits behind it, who are seeking your worship of the creation (stars). In so doing one comes to believe in a “fatalism of life,” where you have little to no choices anymore. This brings many to a depressed state when they see things go wrong for them by following the advice of astrologers, and hopelessly accept it.

Now if astrology is both unscientific and unbiblical, why do people seek after it? One dangerous answer is, at times it seems to WORK! Yes, remember behind the occultism of astrology are demon forces who can in limited ways manipulate our world, events and you. They will do this for seekers so they begin to yield themselves to trusting astrology for their future and living.

Once hooked, a follower begins to attribute authority to God’s creation that rightly belongs to God Himself. In this context demons have accomplished creating an idolater for whom the Bible says there awaits an eternal Hell.

Rev 21:8 (NNAS)  “”But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.””

God warned the Old Testament saints which still applies today,

Deu 4:19 (NNAS)  “”And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.”

In the United States alone, people are flocking in droves to read their horoscopes and astrological predictions found in newspapers, on TV programs, and mail order lessons. The “Age of Aquarius” has dawned, and now it floods our nation and the world as millions slavishly read their “fate before each beginning day.

This is precisely what was occurring over 5000 years ago at the TOWER of BABEL . God observed this idolatry that grew to unimaginable proportions and unified mankind against worshipping and serving the Creator. So God stepped in,

Gen 11:5-9 (NNAS) “The LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. 7 “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel , because there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

The great danger of astrology today is it draws unsuspecting people into a religion that denies God, that reject His authority over the Creation and over them. It is demon infested, demon inspired and when anyone opens the door of their heart to it, it enslaves them and can lead to an eternity in Hell. We should NEVER trust in astrological beliefs, the Zodiac, the horoscopes and predictions occultic astrologer give us. It is unscientific and unbiblical. I warn you stay away and do not participate no matter how much interest begins in your heart. God condemns it and warns you He will judge and punish all who follow it when they die.

Now, what do astrologers think of Christianity? Well today, astrologers deny the Bible and the God of the Bible. They abhor Jesus Christ as our God come in the flesh. For them, the Bible is not the authoritative Word of God. Rather, it is the words of great men of history and the stars that have authority. Furthermore, for them, the Bible has been corrupted over the years for many of their alleged astrological and reincarnation teachings have been supposedly deleted. Lastly, today they also promote this “BIBLE CODE” nonsense played up these days, and say parts of the Bible were written in code and only astrologers understand that code.

My friends, the warnings are there. Stay away from astrology and all its lure. It is the Devil’s plan to capture the minds and hearts of fallen humanity and keep them from the truth and life of God.

The greatest thing God wants all men to know is HE LOVES YOU WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE. God has proven this by coming to earth and fusing Himself into human form forever, as Jesus Christ, so that He could die for our sins and pay the penalty decreed upon all fallen humankind. John 3:16-17 (NNAS)  “”For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

Rom 5:8 (NNAS)  “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 11:25-26 (NNAS)  “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?””

Acts 16:31 (NNAS)  “They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.””

Astrology will lead all who follow away from truth and into a Christless eternity in Hell. That is the goal of all the demon forces that run the occult world. They are going there and want God’s highest creation to join them. Will you follow after them and be lost for eternity? Turn to the one true God, your Creator who made the heavens and the earth for your pleasure and for you to see God’s marvelous signature of creation.

Col 1:16-18 (NNAS)  “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.”

Yes, in Christ there is peace, and hope, tranquility, and joy, satisfaction, and the promise of a perfect future. What more can you ask? Trust Jesus today , take Him now as your Lord God and Savior and enter the true joy and blessings that awaits all who follow Him...

...Yes my friend, the Bible takes a clear position about dabbling in the mystical occultic arts that include astrology. Stay away from it or if you have been dabbling in it, cast it from you and confess it to the Lord Jesus Christ. He can cleanse any and all sins, and He can save us from the nefarious results it will bring. Remember, God created the universe and us, it is He who controls all things and it is He whom the entire world of humankind should seek. When they do God promises they will find Him and His everlasting love.
