…There have always been books, writings and revelations claimed to be from God or about God that challenged the true revelation of the Word of God. Usually, those who promote these writings are followers of what we call religious cults. Perhaps we should start by defining a “cult.” The term “cult” is not intended as a condemnatory term, for by itself it simply describes various differing religious or semi religious groups in our modern world. But for most of us when we hear the word “cult,” we associate it with such groups that teach or practice things foreign to what true religion, that is Christianity, is all about. Most groups that can be called cults today are those which are controlled or dominated almost entirely by one individual leader or authorized organization. Such groups are further characterized by authoritarianism, manipulation and some times communal living. We think immediately of the Hare Krishna’s, Moonies or the Unification Church, etc. But theologically speaking, a cult today is any group of people or organization that (1) challenges or denies the fundamentals of the historic Christian faith. Such groups include but are not limited to the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Mormons, The Masons, etc. These groups present so-called revelations from higher beings or gods, and claim they are binding upon human beings, and failure to obey them will bring devastating results at times in this life and surely in the next. Their teachings usually include (2) “new” or extra-biblical revelations, (3) a distorted and defective view of God and Jesus Christ, (4) a denial of salvation by grace, and a (5) religious works salvation if anything. Moreover it often includes an emphasis on (6) isolationism, (7) exclusivism, but particularly (8) a denial of the sole and completed revelation of God’s Word, the Judeo-Christian Bible. Such is this newly popular revelation found in the URANTIA BOOK. Now what exactly is this “Urantia Book?” Well it is a compiled writing in 2,097 pages of an alleged revelation given by a number of extraterrestrial or celestial spirit-beings who have claimed names such as: “Melchizedek of Nebadon, Bagriel of Salvington and the Chief of the Seraphim.” The book, which is interspersed with some biblical teachings of sorts, offers to all who read and follow it, a higher view of life and living than any other spiritual teachings or books available to the human race. This book claims that our planet was given a name not called “earth”, but “URANTIA,” as these extraterrestrial spirit-beings know it. Now what’s the main message these supernatural and higher power beings want us to know and embrace? We’ll reviewing the book’s literature we discover the following: The “Urantia Book” claims our deepest need is (1) to embrace our inner consciousness that will reveal to us the Fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man, and bring out the “indwelt fragment of the living God,” in all of us. This is called by these beings, the “thought adjuster.” Throughout our lives, this “Adjuster,” attempts to guide us toward spiritual truth, and to the extent that “it” is successful, we experience enlightenment called auto revelation. Secondly, The Urantia book teaches that (2) Jesus Christ was not the one and only Son of God, but that he was one of 700,000 Creator-Sons, He being number 611,121. Can you imagine that? Moreover, it teaches us by revelation of these spirit-beings, that (3) Jesus was no different than you or me in kind, only in degree. It says He was divine, but so are we. The difference in Him and us is he was able to reach perfection in what is called the “Seventh Incarnation.” In the Urantia Book, it claims to give us revelation beyond what the Bible teaches us about Jesus Christ, offering a detailed chronicle of His mortal life unknown by the Christian Bible, by expanding it and correcting the Bible’s errors. This is written down in 700 pages in what is called PART IV of the Urantia Book. Now is this all that it teaches that flies
in the face of Christianity’s revelation called God’s Word? No, it goes
further and tells us that (4) the blood atonement of Christ on the cross, and
His subsequent Resurrection from the dead, which is the unique and key
teaching of the Bible, was in error. Now there are many other “new” revelations given by these celestial beings, who came to earth. All of it, being compared to the fundamentals of the Christian faith, are a denial of it. How popular is this new book on the world scene? Well the answer is ¾ growing rapidly. Already there are hundreds of thousands of readers who are convinced it is the true source of spiritual revelation to mankind, and following its teachings brings inner peace, inspiration, love for mankind, and most of all it allows the follower to reach his or her potential to find their own divinity. Indeed, this is a very dangerous book, and what it teaches is even more dangerous because it ultimately is a denial of God’s Word and revelation given to mankind. Regardless of its new revelations that tell of God, the universe, various orders of personalities that inhabit and administer creation, and the role every human being is to play in the divine order of things – God’s Word has something to say about it. First of all, Jesus Christ, Himself, the Infinite God/Man and Creator said,
Furthermore, we are told and warned in scripture that not only will false Christs come, that is those who claim to be from God with revelations in the “last days” for us to embrace. We are also told,
Paul the apostle tells us satanic forces, that is demons or fallen spirit beings will near the “end times,” begin an assault upon humanity bringing them teachings from demonic sources, that is a “Cultic gospel,” or different gospel than that which teaches ¾ Christ died for our sins, that by faith through grace one is forever saved and forgiven. Moreover, note the apostle Paul states that a “different spirit,” will be presented to us other than the Holy Spirit of God. This different spirit to guide you, as the Urantia Book claims is the “Adjuster,” a euphemism for a fallen spirit being or beings who will enter you and begin leading you astray from God. How dangerous this book is for all who read it with open minds to its corrupt teachings. For an analogy, It’s like opening a window in a warm house on a bitter cold day and allowing the cold, dark night’s frozen air in, to steal away the warmth and health of the house and home. You see friend, when we open the door of our minds and heart to spiritual sources outside of God and His Word, we are inviting demonic forces into our being where they will entrench themselves and lead the unsuspecting human being into eternal darkness and death. Oh yes my friend, do not discount this! Now the question is ¾ is the Urantia Book for real and was it given by celestial spirit beings? The answer is absolutely! Again hear God’s Word,
Note that phrase, “spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms.” That’s a description of the innumerable fallen angels or demons spirits headed up by the chief of darkness, Satan or the devil himself. Yes, this book is real, probably dictated by these demons, which actually may be giving us their names: “Melchizedek of Nebadon, Bagriel of Salvington and the Chief of the Seraphim.” As spooky as it sounds, you’d better believe that this assault against God and humanity is on the rise. Already more than 400,000 copies of the URANTIA BOOK have sold, and many followers are yielding their soul and spirit to its teachings and many are becoming possessed by these demonic spirits, parading as from God. Paul the apostle gives us more warnings when he said,
God’s Word has no good thing to say about “angels” from heaven giving revelations, especially contrary to what God has already declared. With that in mind, what has God declared already? Well friend let me tell you. God’s Word tells us that we are to accept and believe in the following seven fundamental truths… 1. The verbal plenary inerrant inspiration of the Bible. Yes God’s Word teaches that from cover to cover, from Genesis to Revelation the Bible is the completed and final revelation God given to all mankind. Anything else or additional, is not from God. In fact God’s curse is upon any writing that so claim to be. Hear God’s Warning about this,
The Urantia Book is not from God, it is a demonic substitute to lead the unsuspecting away from finding the one true God in Jesus Christ. Secondly, The Bible teaches we are to accept and believe in, 2. The virgin birth, absolute deity and sinless life of Jesus Christ – Indeed, Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God, and He is the final revelation to us of God’s love, and also warning of His coming judgment for the lost and fallen angels that sinned. Next, we discover the Bible alone teaches of, 3. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ to provide salvation for all – Man is not saved by enlightenment, good works, deeds or thoughts, nor is one saved by any combination of our own righteousness. Rather, we are saved by the shedding of the blood of an offering for sin. God’s Word says,
However, there is no creature that can atone for the sins of the whole human race, save an infinite being whose blood infinitely is pure and holy. That can only come from God Himself who became a man. Jesus Christ is not the 611,121st Creator-Son. He is the one and only Son of God in whom the Father God is “well-pleased.” To present anyone else is blasphemous and demonic in nature and under the wrath and condemnation of God. Now fourth we see the Bible teaches us there is but one Holy Spirit of God who seeks to indwell all who come to Christ confessing their sins. So Christianity alone teaches of 4. The absolute divine person and work of the Holy Spirit – God’s Spirit opens our eyes and minds to hear and to embrace the teachings of Christ and His death on our behalf. Have you opened your heart to Him and called upon Jesus Christ to save you? Until you do, you cannot accept or receive God’s forgiveness and restoration to the state of life eternal. Continuing on, the Bible and Christianity further teaches us about, 5. The reality of Satan and his destructive work today – This Urantia Book, among other New Age cultic gospels is but another attempt by demons to lead sinners astray and away from God by telling us we are divine and do not need saving. How insidious and wicked is such teaching to lead many to an eternal Hell with them. Watch out my friend, you may be a target of demons, if you are exploring such things as this book or other extra-biblical revelations. Now two more things Scripture alone tells us. First is the promise of, 6. The personal and bodily return of Jesus Christ – Yes, Jesus is coming again to take back the earth from the present demonic forces that rule and reign here by God’s permission. One day, perhaps sooner than all think the sky will open and Jesus Christ will first call home His entire church, followed by His triumphant return with all the saints to establish His righteous eternal kingdom. Lastly Christianity believes and teaches, 7. The bodily resurrection of all men; some to eternal life and some to everlasting punishment – the question we all face is where will we go when we die? Say, let me ask you ¾ Have you come to a place in your spiritual life where you can say for certain, if you died tonight that you’d go to Heaven? Herein is the GOOD NEWS of the Bible. God gives us His unwavering Word of promise that if we settle our sin account here and now, confessing it before God, claiming our utter inability to be righteous or gain righteousness in and of ourselves, and claim the only means of being cleansed from our sins is to accept and believe (put our hope and trust alone) in Jesus Christ as our God and Savior – when we do, the Father in Heaven will SAVED US ETERNALY & FOREVER! The Urantia Book will take you nowhere except to Hell. So will all other falsely claimed revelations from God be it the Muslim Koran, the Book of Mormon, or any other false writing attributed to the Creator God. My friend, be careful, watch out, keep away from the onslaught of teachings of demons flooding our world these days, and turn to the one book you can trust – the Word of God. In it you’ll find the one true God, His Son Jesus Christ, and your hope and salvation in this life and forever. May God add His blessing to these words, for Jesus sake, Amen. …The Urantia Book is filled with spiritual teachings given by various orders of demons that inhabit the celestial world temporarily. Their denial of God’s Word, the Bible, and of God’s Son Jesus Christ is a clever attempt by these “spiritual forces of darkness in heavenly places,” to lead many away from God to their eternal destruction. Be warned and aware, and avoid any curiosity of reading and embracing these cleverly crafted teachings to entrap the minds of fallen sinners. God’s Word is the completed revelation to mankind, and in these “last days,” the Bible says God has spoken to us through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ’s revelations alone are held intact by the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Body of believers born again and waiting His soon return. Are you ready to meet your God? You will, all will, but the question is will you meet Him as your Savior and Lord or the fierce and wrathful God and Judge come to reward sinners for their rebellion and rejection of His love and grace through Christ. · Radio talk #4602 · Broadcast date: November 10, 2002 · Speaker: Dennis L.
