 Hi, I’m Dennis Finnan, host and speaker on the World, the Word & You! Broadcast and in a moment we’ll talk about POLITICS, CHRISTIANS AND THE FUTURE OF OUR NATION…

…If one were to characterize American politics today it would be by the phrase – UGLY BUSINESS! Indeed after hearing the presidential debates, the stump speeches of our candidate teams, and their respective parties, it’s been a nasty barrage of name calling and charges. However one thing slipped through that never before has had the intensity that surrounds this forthcoming election. That is, the sharp political, social, moral and spiritual differences of the candidates and their philosophy for life and living in these United States . And, make no mistake about it, this election is more than putting into office the candidates who best can serve your immediate needs. The truth is, American politics is no longer about Democrats, Republicans or Independents; it’s no longer a fight against either liberal politics or conservative politics, although it is surely a part of it. The political presidency race today has clearly shown that America is at “WAR,” not only with international Islamic terrorists, but an internal war against the fundamental foundational principles of theses United States ! And, to be more specific, it is a war against historic Christianity, declared by the godless politicians, judges, and people who have boldly stated that anyone professing faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible is the enemy of 21^st century America !

In light of this new push in America , I want to talk about the importance of all eligible citizens’ getting out to vote, for the future of America is truly at stake. So after this musical pause, I’ll tell you why…

…Never before in American history has our nation been so divided as these days of presidential politics. The reason is the winner of this race will have the opportunity to put into force his world view of life and living, and to implement the process to reinforce this for generations to come. This is why the battle is so fierce, and everyone including the news media, Hollywood, even peoples of outside countries, have campaigned for the candidate team who will best represent their desired philosophy of life. Now make no mistake it is not a contest as I said before, of one American party against another with similar American ideals -- it is a battle for God and His righteousness verses sinful man and his own righteousness to rule the land. Let’s examine this and see if we can clearly identify the real issues to consider at the polls.

To begin, let me catalog the telling differences between the major parties whose two candidates quite clearly represent the two contrasting world views of life and living. I’ll begin with the SECULAR WORLD VIEW  - This is a view of life that has been with us from the Garden of Eden, when Cain, the first son of Adam and Eve, declared his freedom from the rulership of the Creator God who gave him life. We read in the Bible,

Gen 4:6-8 (NIV)  Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” 8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

These two first children of humanity were at “war,” and the issue was, Abel submitted his life and living to doing what God the Creator told him to do, while Cain chose to establish a world about him that was not in submission to God’s rules for life and living. The resulting conflict came to a head when Cain decided to eliminate Abel, to essentially remove his godly influence on the world Cain wanted to live in. This battle has continued to be fought now for a many millenniums.

Now let’s define Cain’s worldview which has now publicly surfaced in American life and politics. You see, this “Secular World View,” in essence stands for everything that God has forbidden. This covers four major areas of life and living in these United States .

I. LIFE 

The Democratic Party among some minor ones, says that all life is not sacred. Therefore,  our nation must not impede the will of an individual to kill their child, once conceived before birth. The woman who carries it has a constitutional right to destroy it. Those who espouse this view, if elected to office, will ensure that the abortion nightmare of killings will continue and be deeply embedded into our laws for centuries to come. What’s more, the issue of euthanasia, (assisted Suicide) which is the killing of life that does not measure up to a proposed standard of quality, will one day become the law of the land. Following this, there is continued promotion of producing and experimenting with embryonic stem-cells in the hopes of curing certain diseases. This is clearly promoted by those who follow the secular worldview, especially presidential candidate Kerry and Edwards who have so stated. However, embryonic stem cells can only come by live human beings in the embryo stage of life. To harvest these cells requires the killing of that human life. Now the second area involving the secular world view is…

II. FAMILY 

Yes, another aspect of this godless world view is the promotion of same sex marriages which issues forth out of a permissive society that promotes and encourages alternate lifestyles such as homosexuality. Not only are the followers of this world view in acceptance of public manifestation of this, they vilify anyone who does not agree with them. In fact those promoting the homosexual lifestyles and freedoms have stated their goals, which the Democratic Party officially approves. In April 1993 at the Gay Pride March on Washington , D.C. , homosexuals made these demands…

1.   Full national recognition and legalization of same-sex marriages.

2. The recognition and legal protection of the whole range of non-traditional family structures.

3. The re-definition of sexual change surgeries as medical, not cosmetic treatment.

4. Unrestricted alternative artificial insemination.

5. Abortion made available to all people without restriction and regardless of age.

6. Homosexual education programs in “all levels of education” including elementary schools.

7. An end to discrimination based on sexual orientation in all youth programs such as the Boy Scouts...

8. An end to consideration of gender dysphoria (homosexuality) as a psychological disorder.

Shockingly enough, many of these anti-American concepts of a godless world view have already been put in operation. Yet, if the traditional family of one man, one woman and many children is destroyed by establishing domestic partnerships outside of a monogamous marriage relationship, the future strength and stability of the nation will falter. III. FREEDOM 

Again, the godless world view of secularism for America is pushing at breakneck speed to establish what I would call a new SOCIAL WORLD ORDER for Americans. This is where government takes the role of leadership in all American life from free speech to education and even religious liberty. Again make no mistake, the Democratic Party is the party of this world view and has made claims it will continue to erode the freedoms of America , granted under the original Constitution of the United States .  Already promotion in congress and through liberal judicial activists, we are being told what to speak and not to speak. Soon, like other nations of the world, it will be forbidden for anyone, especially Christians, to speak out against homosexuality, immorality, abortion, euthanasia, and a voice for God. Recent legislation proposed by Sen. Ted Kennedy will in effect begin limit free speech, under various hate speech bills. What’s more, education in government schools has effectively eliminated the Christian world view, and the godless atheist’s world view will be strongly forced upon all students to accept and believe. Even failure to attend these schools, will if all have their way, be outlawed. Furthermore, religious liberty will be curtailed, pastors will be limited in their preaching, tax exemptions for churches will be banned and eliminated by those who espouse this world view. Lastly comes the area of

IV. GOVERNING 

In effect, through the secular world view which Kerry and Edwards strongly promote, government soon will become the “god of the people,” and then correspondingly it will be given the right to rule us exclusively. Why Kerry himself in a recent speeches said there would, in effect, be a litmus test for nominating judges if he is elected president. The test would be they must be PRO-CHOICE proponents for abortion on demand. Do you realize he was saying that no Christian, Catholic or Protestant who follows the Bible can ever serve our nation as justices under his Democratic rulership. This is nothing less than raw socialism, which godless communism showed the world, what it would do when in power. Also, by eliminating our 2^nd amendment rights, total control of the people will one day be in effect beginning with gun control. What’s more, the secular world view espouses granting heavy social entitlements to the people, but only at the expense of them paying dearly for it. BIG GOVERNMENT is the major plank of the Democratic Party and its followers today. In short, if this world view is allowed to be put into law and practice, America will cease to be the America of our founding fathers.

Now what is the “other” world view? Well it is called the “Christian World View.” It is in stark contrast, and can been seen mainly, not fully mind you, in the Republican Party’s platform promoted by Bush and Chaney. We see it as follows:

I. LIFE 

Life is sacred, and no individual, once the process of life begins at conception, has the right to interrupt it. In other words, all life is sacred! This means no one, nor any agency in the future will have the right to take human life, except under law for high crimes committed, What’s more since all life is precious, permission to experiment with embryos, living human being at the beginning of life will not be permitted. Furthermore through education and constitutional law the holocaust slaughter of 40 million children is condemned and hopefully can be stopped; and, in its place morals will be taught to strengthen Americans to control their procreative abilities and limit them to the marriage bed.

II. FAMILY

The Christian world view believes the Bible’s teaching of a monogamous traditional family of one man and one woman. Promotion of this alone and permission to recognize only same sex marriages will strengthen and reinforce a wholesome moral atmosphere that will bring God’s continued blessings on the land. Today, to elect anyone who does not promote the Christian world view for traditional marriages, will I believe, bring the disintegration of our nation.

III. FREEDOM 

Our forefathers who founded this nation believed in personal responsibility with the government to help us carry this out, and to restrain or punish those who rebelled against it. This meant very limited national and state government in American life. The Republican Party, more than all others, has consistently promoted this and Bush and Chaney promise to continue this too.  Although hate speech is wrong, it must not be legislated thus destroy free speech. Public education will continue to be a parents’ right to choose. Whether it will be Christian schooling , home schooling or public, no government is to have the power to prevent their choices. Parents not the state are in charge of minor children. Moreover, public schooling will afford the freedom for students to hear both views of life’s origins. Not just godless evolutionism, but creationism or intelligent design as well. Friends, the future of America is truly at stake, and the voters will decide which philosophy of freedom or lack of it will be theirs. Last in our comparisons is the issue on the Christian world view of governing.

IV. GOVERNING 

As I stated a moment ago, the Christian world view believes in the most freedoms for America ’s citizen’s and promotes the traditional American view our founding fathers gave us. Entitlements are great, but they rob the people of their hard earned money, and give them little choice for their own future. Limited government by man, and full government by the God of the Bible is the issue. The cry these days is “You can’t legislate morality!” But, that is a lie for the only thing you can legislate IS MORALITY! Laws that prevent rape, murder, robbery are simply morality in action. So the real question is” “WHOSE MORALITY IS GOING TO BE LEGISLATED?”

This is the issue in this presidential election, more than ever! The lines are drawn. It will be CAIN’S PHILOSOPHY of no god but ourselves, or ABEL’S PHILOSOPHY seen in the Christian world view that says God must be honored in personal and societal life if we are to continue to be the most blessed nation on the face of the earth. When you go to the polls you will not only decide what candidates will become our national leaders, but you will decide which world view they will promote and legislate. The next president may well have the opportunity to appoint three new justices on the Supreme Court which now for a half a century has tried to become activists who legislate rather than interpret the law. A majority rule has not been established for either world view, but the one who gets in office will be able to turn the tide and law will become whatever they choose and decide. Years ago a great philosopher named Edmond Burke said,

“ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR THE TRIUMPH OF EVIL
IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING.”

So much of the history of the struggle between good and evil can be explained by this observation. Seldom is it the numbers that determine the outcome, but whether those who claim to be good men are willing to stand up and fight for what they know to be right. In America we have the privilege and duty for all Americans, especially Christians to go to the polls and vote for the candidates of their choice.

Now for Christians this means one thing -- not to vote for what will bring us a fatter paycheck, or any entitlements we would love to have, but to vote for the candidate that best upholds God’s laws and principles for a moral, God honoring society. To vote for anything less is to be like Cain and raise our fist in God’s face and say – I want my ways without God’s input for life.

Now, some Christians today feel it’s best simply not vote at all! But then, that is not your choice is it? Since we live in a democracy, it requires you to participate; the least is to vote in every election. Do you know that between 1992 and 1996, Christian voter turn out declined in America by 17%! Moreover, from 1996 – 2000, it further declined an additional 23%, so we’ve had a 40% drop in Christian voter turnout over the last four elections.

So remember my friend, BAD POLITICIANS ARE ALWAYS ELECTED BY GOOD PEOPLE WHO DO NOT VOTE! Indeed, there is no perfect candidate, but one will be closer to God’s world view and that is the candidate to vote for. So my advice here is don’t vote Republican, or Democrat, rather vote for the candidates Jesus Christ Himself would select from among the choices we have. How can we know His choice? I’ve given you some criteria and values to consider. Yes for simplicity sake ask yourself:  Who stands for abortion? The sacredness of life? Who stands for homosexual rights, and same sex marriages? Who stand for old fashioned American morals and the traditional family? Who stands for personal freedoms and limited government? Who stands for socialistic big government? Who stands for the “global test” of defense need for defense? Who stands for American sovereignty? You my friend must decide, and whether you vote or not, remember, YOU WILL DECIDE which world view will take control of America for years to come.

More than ever, this is a crucial election and one where no American should stay home on election day November 2^nd. I for one have already voted by mail. It gives me time to consider every candidate, and the many state and local proposals. I’ve cast my vote not for a man or men, but for those who will support my values, which are God’s values found in the Word of God. I admit I’m a registered Republican, but I never vote party line, and I would not hesitate to vote for a candidate of any other party, if he or she would promote the traditional American way of life which happens to be the JUDEO-CHRISTIAN world view! This broadcast is not a plea to vote for any particular candidate, or is an endorsement of any either. It is to show you the issues at stake, and the contrasts between the world views now so starkly opposed.

I’d like to close on this one thought. Regardless of whether you believe in a sovereign Creator God or not, know this the bible warns us that,

Psa 9:17 (NIV) “… all the nations that forget God will be turned into the grave.”

If we continue the moral slide into an anti-god secular society, we will one day see God lift His hand of blessing off our nation, seen in the power to be the strongest nation on the face of the earth, to be the richest nation, and to be the most stable nation, morally and ethically on the face of the earth. The Bible not only warns us, but give us examples of nations that forgot God. There is Sodom and Gomorrah , Nineveh , The Babylonian empire, the Egyptian empire, there was Greece , and Rome and recently Nazi Germany. Mind you -- all of them were driven into the dust of the earth and the one major common factor was – they forgot to acknowledge the one true God of the Bible in their laws and living. America is great because America has since its inception honored God. Sadly, we are living in a post-Christian America, and the effects are seen by the promotion of godlessness seen in the secular world view that espouses: Abortion, Euthanasia, Anti-Christian bigotry, Homosexuality, Sexual immorality and other perversions, Public gambling, Judicial tyranny, Pornography, and worst of all  -- evolutionary defiance of God’s truth that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen 1:1).

Indeed, we are in a culture war and the battle will be for the future of America as we know it. Who we put in the presidential office of our nation will decide this issue. In addition, whom you elect to congress will also decidedly change the face of America . So my friend, the issue will be decided by the American public; moreover by the Christian public. If they band together to vote God’s view and candidates who are best to be elected, we can turn the tide of the nation. May the appalling figures of the past neglect of our patriotic duty, be changed, and may each of us be the source of that change on Tuesday November 2^nd.
