It's in the news these days, a great hullabaloo about extraterrestrial life signs being found on Mars, shortly a topic for a later radio broadcast. But, all of this hoopla takes us back to the eternal question- Did life evolve in our universe and here on earth, or did it come into existence by an unguided naturalistic process? Just recently, I was reading up on today's evolutionary theories of origins and came across an interesting premise that is essentially believed by every evolutionist. Amazingly, all of them, whether atheists or agnostics, like the creationist's hold to their theories "by faith". In fact, evolutionists have the most amazing faith of all!

Most people today emerging from secular education come away with the ridiculous belief that they owe their existence to the false "god of Hydrogen" For them, the Bible of their minds read, "In the beginning 'Hydrogen' created the heavens and the earth." Now you might think I'm crazy, but follow along. Evolutionists today deny any possibility of our existence coming into being by the sovereign will of a Divine Creator. In place of that, they exercise faith in the fairy tale that people evolved up from an ape-like creature, and that other mammals have evolved from reptiles, and reptiles evolved from amphibians, and amphibians from fish, and fish from some unknown invertebrates and that invertebrates evolved up from some further unknown protozoan, which evolved from some random complex chemicals, and that these complex chemicals evolved from the simplest chemical of all - hydrogen!

There you have it! Adding it all together, evolutionists exercise an amazing faith in this great god of hydrogen, the supposed father and mother of us all. Of course, it isn't put in such simple terms to the candidates for belief. They are told a series of half truths, coupled with fragmented bits and pieces of findings, alleged to be fact with no scientific basis of confirmation behind it.

Friends, it's like a science professor standing before his class with a blackboard full of figures and says, "Now class, we don't have any proof of details yet, but we know everything evolved anyway." I can't begin to tell you how many letters and notes I get from students and parents of students who are so confused by the forceful teachings of evolution they are getting in schools and colleges, and when anyone even questions the validity of evolution, they are considered ignorant, biased creationists who are unworthy of being given the space to speak..

So, right now, I want to examine what the Bible says about our origins and allow you to decide for yourselves which system of faith is more logical and stands more in line with any findings we see in our world and universe. To begin, we must not confuse or identify the biblical doctrine of Creation with the scientific theory of origins. The purpose of God's statement in Genesis One, is to declare what He has done and what man is to believe about his origins and mankind's Creator. Thus, it is as the Bible declares in,

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV) " By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."

This means the biblical doctrine of Creation is to be understood and accepted from the standpoint of faith. Yet, don't be misled to believe the alternate theory of origins. Evolution is not accepted on the same basis. Both systems are NOT PROVABLE, and outside the scope of scientific study. They are philosophical at best. But, let's look at the Bible now and see exactly what God has really said about the Creation. Many people today are really ignorant about Creationism, and more, are confused by false ideas and teachings concerning it. So, to best understand it , let's hear what God actually has to say about it. We read in Genesis One,

Genesis 1:1-2 (NIV) : In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

The Bible opens with the statement, in the beginning there was God and God alone. This phrase, :In the beginning," speaks of eternity, but of the creation of the universe as described in this chapter. The next revelation is found in the words, "God created," The Hebrew word "bara," or "created" is also used in verses 21 and 27. We find that this same word Moses and others used by divine inspiration in other Scripture gives us a clear meaning..

Exodus 20:11 (NIV) "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

Nehemiah 9:6 (NIV) "You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is in it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."

Psalm 33:6 (NIV) "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth."

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV) "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."

Just from these instructive passages throughout the Bible concerning the Creation, we discover that a divine sovereign being called God created and formed the entire universe "out of nothing " Yes, right out of nothing. This creation "ex nihilo" has important theological implications, for among other things it precludes the idea that matter is eternal and indicates that it had a beginning. In addition, it indicates that God is distinct and transcendent from His creation. The evolutionist today believes that, and I might add, "by faith alone," that everything evolved out of preexistence of eternal matter going back to the great god Hydrogen, that primary substance that supposedly eternally existed in its elemental form. And, given tens of billions of years it produces people! Amazing, astounding, and ridiculous say I for any clear thinking person to believe this. But, the question is not is this true, but why do intelligent thinking people adopt this faith of origins that is unscientific and not provable? The answer is, to deny it leaves the only other alternative to our origins. If we didn't evolve, then we must have been created. But here is the "rub". Evolutionists are by faith agnostics and atheists. That is, they deny the existence of a personal, omnipotent, omniscient God as Creator of the universe, for if He exists, they are accountable to Him!

Yet, as I present this statement, I can hear the cry, "How can all of those scientists who firmly believe in evolution be wrong?" A lot of well educated, intelligent and even kind and loving people say it is true and teach it as fact. They wouldn't be lying would they? How can so many be wrong who all agree? Well, my friend, the answer is most people are taught from infancy through schooling and the media, that evolution explains our universe. The recent amazing and timely finding of the Mars rock, supposedly billions of years old, with fossil-like signs of life embedded in it, prove there is extraterrestrial life, doesn't it? I answer with the question, " Do 25,000 people in a stadium shouting a lie make something right or cause it to become truth?" Of course not, so numbers of followers does not verify truth. Rather, let facts stand by themselves.

For instance, today there is significant evidence against any theory of evolutionary origin. Consider this, there are absolutely no transitional links and intermediate forms in either the fossil record or even our modern world. All types appear full-formed when first present. No actual evidence has ever been found, contrary to supposed links, and proofs claimed as authentic. Secondly, there is no adequate explanation for the origin of life from "dead chemicals." Even the simplest form of life is fantastically complex. Besides, the same elements at the time of creation, exist in our modern world as do apes, reptiles, multi-celled invertebrates as well as fossil life. Why are they not evolving still?

Now third, all evolutionists state that life resulted exclusively from gaseous non-life, humans resulted from animals, and such conclusion must lead to the fact that all matter resulted somehow from "nothing". So, the evolutionist is left with nothing, or best, just hydrogen as the originator of everything. This becomes the article of faith, our school children are asked to believe - all without questioning and asking for clear scientific proof measurable establishment of fact.

Now, really friend, is this faith and religion supposed to be more credible than what the Bible says, "In the beginning God created...the heavens and the earth." If you think so, then you are what God calls, "a fool." Listen to God's Word concerning this very matter.

Romans 1:22-23 (NIV) "Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles."

2Thessalonians 2:10-11 (NIV) "and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie."

Those who have opted to reject God's Word on the matter of their origin and stubbornly believe in evolution which the Bible calls, the "Lie", identify themselves as perishing and enemies of God. But, don't despair or be offended. The Bible reveals that God is also a God of love, care and compassion and " is not willing that any should perish." Would that all men , women and children would take the time to study and hear His marvelous Word that describes their true origins. For when an unbiased mind comes to God, His Spirit opens their ears and hearts to hear and believe His Word.

This is why the major goal of some wonderful organizations such as Creation Research Society and the Bible Science Society around the world work diligently to point out the weaknesses of evolutionary theory, so many who have not heard the truth can when presented with the truth, decide for themselves. However, regardless of how much we speak the truth in love, the theory of evolution holds the minds of men in a hypnotic state because they are under the power and snare of the evil one, called the Devil. Yet, we Christians have nothing to fear from evolution or any other suppose findings of life on Mars or anywhere else. The teachings of Creationism, when compared to evolution, stands with great superiority in comparing evidences in nature, logic and history.

So, friends, it's your choice, and remember there really is no other choice! You either believe in the god of hydrogen as your creator, or you come to trust and believe in the creative act of the wonderful, sovereign, omnipotent and all-knowing God of the Bible, who has proven His love for us. Yes, the great love story the Bible shares with all of the world is found in,

John 3:16-17 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

God created all the worlds, the stars and the universe, and He created it for His pleasure and glory. You my friend - and I - we are God's greatest creation and as such He has planned a wonderful life and eternity for all who come to Him and receive His Son Jesus Christ. God's love story begins with Creation and ends with the Cross upon which Jesus died. But thanks be to God, all who put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their forgiveness of sins and promise of eternal life, will one day enter those promises and be with God and Christ for all eternity. How do I know? Listen to what God has said,

1John 5:13 (NIV) "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know you have eternal life."

John 1:12 (NIV) "Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God..."

Evolution, it's simply an invented religious faith based on the desire of multitudes who do not want a Creator God ruling over them. Their fields of evidence are more and more being exposed for their fallacies, and their carefully crafted proofs are being revealed for what they really are - lies and inconclusive wishful thinking. May God's truth reign not only in our world, but first in your heart. Come to the Savior, who the Bible says is our Creator, for He alone will teach you all truth and give you a meaning for living and a hope for the future.

May the great and loving Creator God, who has made all things, also be your God, who keeps you in all things, and may His love and goodness through Jesus Christ, be your portion as you firmly trust the truth in a miraculous, biblical creation, in spite of the dubious voices of dissent. There is enough truth and evidences to believe God and His Word. I, for one, will take my stand with God and His Word.
