CHRISTIANIZING AMERICA?

IT WAS AN HISTORIC DAY ON NOVEMBER 17, 1980. ON THAT DAY THE U.S. SUPREME COURT STRUCK DOWN A KENTUCKY LAW THAT REQUIRED THE POSTING OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN STATE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS. FROM THAT MOMENT ON A RELENTLESS WITCH HUNT CONTINUES,
TO SEEK OUT AND DESTROY EVER VESTIGE OF GOD
AND HIS WORD RESIDING IN THE LAND.”

I’m Dennis Finnan, host and speaker on the World, the Word & You! Broadcast and in a moment we’ll talk about the Christian “apartheid” practiced these days in America and the hotly debated issue of the separation of Church and state. Stay tuned…

…Whether we want to admit it, today in this great nation, America teeters on the brink or edge of disaster. Yes, a social and moral disaster stand before us, for the winds of change and frankly ruin are breaking down all walls of resistance, and making headway, breakneck speed, in its quest to change and alter the course of America’s greatness and power. Am I an alarmist, chasing windmills? Hardly, for I hope to show you in a moment, but right now I feel we need to clarify the issues facing America today; and, of course have been in the news with the removal of the Ten Commandments monument in the halls of justice in the State of Alabama recently. Yes, many tempers flew that day in August 2003, when State Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore’s donated monument’s public presence of the Ten Commandments, was removed due to what ones justice called a violation of Church and state and an infringement on the rights of the First amendment of our American Constitution.

Well, after one more pause for some more good music, I’ll return to give you what I hope is a proper perspective on America’s historical past, the issue at hand, and what brought about all the confusion we see and hear today about it. So don’t go away, I’ll be right back with some really interesting concepts and thoughts for you to consider….

…Yes, it was way back on November 17, 1980, when the U.S. Supreme Court, a majority based court of justices who hold to the non-American religious beliefs of secular humanism, struck down a Kentucky law that mandated the posting of the Ten Commandments of the Bible in every state-run public school. Amazingly enough, listen to that court’s actual reasoning and ruling that brought it about. The court declared,

“The Ten Commandments are plainly religious… and may induce children to read them meditate upon, perhaps to venerate and to obey the commandments.” [1]

Amazing as that is, this is what our secularized non-American, non-Christian humanistic court of the day determined. Imagine… the Ten Commandments, a part of the Bible’s moral code of the Judeo-Christian faith, in the higher court’s mind was a violation of the “separation of church and state,” mandate established, they say, by the federal Constitution of the land.

Since then, many rabid, anti-Christian humanists who have taken over the courts, rule from their benches not upholding the actual intent of law but “making law in and of themselves,” while Christian remain silent and docile to it. Now the questions before us are:

(1) “Do Christians have the right to expect their nation to remain Christian oriented, as it was founded?  Or,

 (2) “Do a majority of residents today have the right to change it?

These are two interesting questions. However the answer is “yes” to both questions. Now the first question is right because whether anyone likes it or not, our nation and its public law were established on the basis of the Judeo-Christian Bible, its morality and teaching about a Creator God who rules above all men and their laws established in any nation. Yes, my friend, regardless of what twisted logic and findings any secularized court says today – AMERICA WAS FOUNDED AS A CHRISTIAN NATION and was set up through all of its laws and statutes as a nation that publicly and formally would follow the moral principles of the Bible from a Biblical worldview. I’ll not attempt to debate this issue as history establishes this plainly. And, since it does, Christians have a right to expect that moral codes and principles established by our laws, our courts and forefathers, need to be upheld, as written, until; the laws of the land are legally changed. The trouble we see today is since changing law in America is very difficult. Those who reject God and His laws our forefathers set up, well the only way they can change them is to reinterpret them which is essentially to make new law from the bench rather than uphold the laws as written.

This is what we are seeing these past 100 years. The American law courts have sadly been taken over by non-Christian secular religious thinking justices who, in total frustration with Judeo-Christian law, attempt to change America’s law by ruling it out through their supposed lawful interpretation. But instead of supporting law, they make up their own law in the process that actually violates our written laws. Yet, no one contests this!

How sad, we have allowed such abuse to stand and worse to grow bolder as to bring us to the court decisions today that rule every vestige of God and His Word in moral and social life must be removed from public view and government sanction.

The agenda of the anti-Christian god “left,” is powerful and ruthless, and works to overturn the moral codes and basis of American life. Men like Barry Lynn, Director of “American United for Separation of Church and State,” and the ACLU, “American Civil Liberties Union;” both, are powerful left-wing socialistic voices, determined and dedicated to the overthrow of the American Constitution and Judeo-Christian worldview of historic law. Yet, Christians have generally remained silent in the face of their exploits. Why? Let me share the reason why with you now. Mainly, I believe,

CHRISTIANS HAVE FAILED TO REALIZE THAT PARTICIPATION IN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IS A BIBLICAL MANDATE!

Indeed, we have been so browbeaten to believe that our Christian faith must never cross the line and become involved in the public arena. Christian piety for a few centuries now has taught that Christians must not be involved in secular governing affairs. I really don’t know where that came from except to say it is totally unbiblical. You see the Bible says to Christians we are to “submit” to all governing authority,

Rom 13:1 (NIV) Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God

Now what does it mean to submit? Well, for the first century government of Rome, it meant to obey all the rules of government that did not conflict with God’s supreme right to rule, although none would participate in governing. However, the government of Rome was far different from ours today. American government, which we firmly believe God gave our founding forefathers, was set up for “participation,” of the people and by the people. Thus, for Christians to “submit,” in our case, requires a number of different and additional things. They are,

  1. SUBMISSION REQURES THAT ALL CHRISTIANS PARTICIPATE AT A MINIMUM LEVEL – This implies voting. Yes, every Christian’s biblical duty is to get out and vote for those who will rule on our behalf in our representative form of government. The sad truth is a vast majority of Christians still do not vote! By not voting in every election, although given the privilege, we disobey God’s Word, and we are actually in rebellion to it. Do you vote regularly in ALL elections, federal, state and local? You should! It’s part and parcel to the government God has given us in America. In addition, all Christians should support and locally participate in the political parties that best uphold our historic Christian foundations. Are you active in your local political party work? You should be. Secondly,

  2. SUBMISSION REQUIRES THAT SOME CHRISTIANS WHO ARE EQUIPPED BY EDUCATION, TALENT, AND DESIRE SHOULD BECOME RULERS IN OUR GOVERNMENT – Participation in this higher level is not only a right and privilege in our nation, but mandated by God’s Word for the believer. In fact, in the foundation of this nation, many pastors and church leaders were those who became legislators, justices, and city and state rulers. They understood their historic and biblical right and responsibility. Yet today, many Christian believe it is wrong for them to participate; only secular minded people should be allowed. What nonsense, and how foolish and deadly this is! If you have the ability, education and talent as a Christian you should at least run for a local office or board position in your city and state. Get involved my Christian friend, for it’s biblical. Third

  3. SUBMISSION REQUIRES ALL CHRISTIANS TO BE EDUCATED AND POLITCALLY ACTIVE IN PROTECTING OUR FOUNDING LAWS THAT DIRECT ALL SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, POLITCAL AND EVEN INTERNATIONAL POLICIES – As the nation goes, so go the personal blessings of God upon us. This Christian knows from Scripture. We cannot live contrary to God’s moral laws as a nation and expect God to bless us, and more to not discipline us. We all live in God’s universe and God still rules it and has the right to declare how His creatures shall live within it. The Bible says in,

Psa 9:17 (NIV)  The wicked return to the grave, all the nations that forget God.

Prov 14:34 (NIV)  Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

The idea rammed down the throats of Christians today, by the anti-god secularists, who cannot stand moral laws from a God they hate, and want removed from their life and living  -- want all Christians to believe they have no rights in our nation’s secularized government. Sadly, we’ve believed this lie too long. Christians are disobedient to God’s Word for national life and living, when it comes to the nation of America and the government God has established, by failing to participate. Yes, it’s time to get back to true biblical submission, which requires active “participation.” It’s also time to take back our legislative branch, and our judicial branch and maintain our executive branch of government -- not by anarchy and overthrow of rule, but by the elective processes.
Say, when was the last time we encouraged our Christian young people in school to pursue becoming say a Christian educator, a Christian politician, or a Christian lawyer or justice? We should! Then we should encourage them to enter public life as a career! Well, it’s about time we did and to do this requires that we “train them up in the way they should go.” The Bible also says,

Col 2:8 (NIV)  "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ."

Prov 22:6 (NIV)  "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

Let me say this, public education today will NEVER train up children in the Christian way, because our public schools are fully taken over by the anti-god, human secularists, who have an agenda of training young people for their alien anti-god way of life. Public Schools are the hotbed evangelism fields of atheism and agnosticism that say there is no god but man himself. Children educated in this anti-Christian “religious” den of God haters has ruined an entire generation of young adults today, who many cannot think right, nor serve God rightly although some may be Christians indeed. Christian education I believe is mandatory if we want godly, strong Christian adults for the next generation to serve God and this nation.

Now back to the issue. As long as the land still functions under laws founded by Christians with the intent to maintain a Judeo-Christian ethic and morality for public life, we Christians have a right, a lawful right and duty to see they are maintained and upheld as our founding fathers wrote them!

When justices’ reinterpret and rule from the bench against lawful expression of biblical morality by claiming it’s unconstitutional by their corrupt interpretation, we need to remove and replace the godless justices where possible. Until then, we must be relentless to participate in the American law system to keep our government strong in the Christian worldview it was founded upon. To do this violates no ones right to worship as they please, as some wrongly cry out.

Now as to that second premise: “Do the people of this nation have the right to remove the Judeo-Christian ethic and principles of public law for life founded by our Christian forefathers?” The answer is yes! However, this must be done “only” lawfully by popular vote and constitutional change. The stealing of our government today by the anti-Christian “left wing” radicals found now nesting in Democratic Party circles, would like to rob Americans of their lawful rights without due process of law.

Well friend, it’s time to stand up and be counted. If America wants to change from a Christian world view, into a secular world view, it has the right but it must do it lawfully. Until then, this is still a nation that is run by laws founded upon, yes, the TEN COMMANDMENTS, and the yes, Judeo-Christian ethics and morality found nowhere else than in the Bible. It’s time Christians wake up, stand up, speak up, and rise up! When justices, and legislators wrongfully try to remove every vestige of Christian emphasis in public life – we must rather remove them from office, and everyone who support their un-American actions. We must use our majority VOTE POWER to put in office those who uphold: the sanctity of life, the morality of heterosexual marriages and unions, the moral principles of the Ten Commandments, and the right for free expression of our faith in public life. Thus my friend, this alone is to be a “true American,” as the nation was founded.  The English philosopher Edmund Burke said it well,

‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’

Will we in the days and years ahead, successfully take back America? Will we stop listening to the rabid, anti-American rhetoric of atheistic rulers and pundits in our land, denying the truth of law and American heritage?  If we continue to do little to nothing, we shall lose the freedom of religion we have to worship, to evangelize, and to actively live it out in the personal and public lifestyle of true Christianity. And my friend, it will be no one’s fault when it is lost, but the Christians of America, who by default, gave up so great a nation of law God has given us.

But now even more important. One cannot be a Christian until they first submit to the greater and higher law of life God has told us about. You see, we not only live in the nation of America, we live on the planet earth God created and owns, and this planet resides in the universe God created and habits. Thus, we are under His higher laws and rulership. These can be found in no other place than the Christian Bible. There God tells us,

Ezek 18:4 (NIV)  For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.

Psa 89:30-32 (NIV)  "If [men] forsake my law and do not follow my statutes, 31 if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands, 32 I will punish their sin …”

Rom 15:12 (NIV)  And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him."

Zech 9:10 (NIV)  “… He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

The Bible reminds us God is the sovereign ruler of all, and His laws found in the Bible are the basis of all subordinate laws to be established in any nation. One day God says, His Son Jesus Christ, the infinite God/Man, will on the basis of His Godhood, return to the earth to take over all rulership and all nations of the earth. Those who have submitted to His rightful rule and authority in this life will be a part of that eternal kingdom established in the universe. Those who reject it who today are represented by the anti-god atheistic secularists attempting to rule America, will be removed and destroyed.

So listen to this ¾ it’s not our job to destroy anyone, but it is our job to lawfully “remove” them from ruling in the land when they violate and misinterpret our laws. And friend, it’s time to do that!!

The next time elections roll around, Christian get out there and vote against all who deny God’s Word for life and living, and vote for those who follow God’s truth, or in the least uphold the historic American foundation of law and life. Then my friend, be absolutely sure you have voted in your heart to crown Jesus Christ your God and Savior. For without that, you’ll have no admission into the greater nation or kingdom of God coming to this earth one day, perhaps sooner than we all think. Only those who become citizens of the heavenly kingdom of God’s Son Jesus Christ, will be there to enjoy the perfect life to come. May God grant you and open heart  to see your responsibilities in national life as well as spiritual life, and the will to take those responsibilities to heart and practice them inwardly and outwardly too.
