“TODAY IN AMERICA WHAT IS THE LARGEST HOMEGROWN RELIGION THAT HAS TAKEN THE WORLD BY STORM? THE ANSWER IS MORMONISM! HOWEVER STARTLING NEW REVELATIONS POISE TO CRACK OPEN THEIR ABIDING FAITH AND FOREVER LAY ITS TEACHINGS TO REST.”

 I’m Dennis Finnan, host and speaker on the World, the Word & You! Broadcast and in a moment we’ll talk about what is happening in the world of religion that is changing the thoughts and faith of Mormons…

… For more than a hundred years, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, better known as Mormons, has firmly believed that the revelations of its founder Joseph Smith, were infallible truth given to him by God. Mormonism, a latter day cult has tried desperately to be associated with what is called Christianity in recent years, although its teachings deny basically everything taught by historic Christianity. Most people today have little idea what Mormons believe and teach. As such, their clean-cut white-shirted missionaries often seen riding bicycles and walking together with knapsacks on their backs, seem to be nice people who have their lives together. Once a hated and hunted Utah sect, the Mormons are now a global church worth an estimated $ 25 billion dollars, claiming a membership role of over 11 million members, mainly living in the United States . Now what has happened recently to create such a stir in the midst of this prospering religious system? The answer is “DNA,” and after our second musical pause, I’ll share with you this important finding everyone needs to know…

…For over a hundred years since the birth of Mormonism, created by the revelations and visions of a man named Joseph Smith, the Church of Latter Day Saints has come into existence based firmly on the teachings Smith said God had given him. Since Mormonism’s founding in the 1820s by Joseph Smith, the Mormon Church, now known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), has claimed that its primary sacred text, the Book of Mormon, is an accurate, infallible book containing the historical account of a group of Israelites who immigrated to the New World about 600 B.C. It tells of Nephite and Lamanite Indian nations—alleged descendants of Israel through his son Joseph—with huge populations living in fortified cities. Included is an alleged visit of Jesus Christ to these peoples in the New World shortly after his death in Jerusalem . It relates in detail how the Nephites and Lamanites waged large-scale wars with each other for centuries, culminating in a massive conflict in AD 385 in which hundreds of thousands of people were killed near Hill Cumorah in present-day New York State (Mormon 6:9–15).

As such, the church claims that modern American Indians are descended from some of these ancient Israelite progenitors (Laman and Lemuel). LDS claim that the prophet Mormon, who they believe originally compiled the history that became the Book of Mormon, also had Hebrew roots, supposedly being descended from an ancient Israelite named Nephi.

According to LDS “Indian lore,” Mormon's son hid solid gold plates engraved with his father's record of the "Nephites" and the "Lamanites" buried in the side of a hill in New York State , where Joseph Smith found them with the divine assistance of an angel named, Moroni , he translated them into English.

Thus, what is written in the Book of Mormon trumps the Christian Bible which the Mormon Church says is a corrupted version of its original, now lost to mankind. However, when the Bible is seen through and filtered by the modern day revelations and teachings of the LDS’s newer books from God, only then can it be rightly understood and accepted, provided it does not contradict them. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints refers to five sources of spiritual authority: (1) the Holy Bible (King James Version), (2) the Book of Mormon, (3) Doctrine and Covenants, (4) Pearl of Great Price, (5) Church Prophets revelations. All five are considered to be the word of God, and thus you would expect them to be in perfect harmony with one another. Actually, though, there is a great deal of doctrinal contradiction and confusion among them. The Book of Mormon has been held up by the LDS as an accurate early history of the Native Americans and of their faith, despite the fact that no artifacts, remnants of cities, linguistic clues, or other scientific proofs been found to support these propositions.

Recently though, the foundations of Mormonism have cracked wide open, when science took to the study of researching the DNA origins of American Indians. The greater scientific community now concurs that through DNA testing, American Indians have proved to not be the descendants of the people of Israel , rather of Siberian, not Semitic descent. This new conclusive evidence devastates and literally destroys the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the foundation of one of the world's fastest growing cults.

Indeed, the testimony of molecular anthropologists and other scientific experts assert that DNA tests conclusively prove American Indians are not and never were of Israelite ancestry as Joseph Smith claims God revealed to him. Of course this further debunks the teaching that America is the place of the origins of human life. Mormonism teaches the Garden of Eden was in America, particularly near Independence Missouri, that Adam ,the first human being, will come again to visit this site and that Noah built his ark nearby (Journals of Discourses 8:195).

In fact, every important event seems to have occurred in America , where the so-called Lamanites and Nephites resided, where they waged wars for centuries, until only the Nephites survived. Well now the truth is out of the bag and every Mormon and others too need to know the Book of Mormon is filled with errors upon which the foundation teachings rest. Mormonism as one has said is America ’s greatest fairytale!

Now what do Mormons believe? The Church today wishes its neighbors believe it is the only true church of Jesus Christ , and all others are error. Well, if it is the restored Church of Jesus Christ , lost since the first century, what does Mormonism teach contrary to historic Christianity? Well in simple form know this. The Mormons hold the following incredulous anti-Christian beliefs:

1. THE GOD OF MORMONS IS NOT THE GOD OF THE BIBLE – the Bible teaches that Almighty Creator God is “from everlasting to everlasting” (Ps. 90:2) and is “the only true God” (John 17:3) and thus “there is but one God” (1 Cor. 8:6). Mormonism teaches that God the Father was once a mortal man like us, that he progressed to become a God, and that we, too, by adopting and faithfully adhering to Mormonism, can become Gods like him. In fact, the LDS Church teaches that there are already many Gods. Among these is our heavenly Father and also his wife, our heavenly Mother. In fact, God the Father is said to have a father, a grandfather, and so on. 
   
   Thus, Mormonism bears little resemblance to Judeo-Christian monotheism; rather, it is closer to the polytheism of the ancient Greeks and Romans who pictured a whole pantheon of gods and goddesses cavorting on Mount Olympus procreating divine children. The bible contrary to this reveals to us a Triune Sovereign Eternal God named Jehovah, revealed in three personalities: (1) God the Father, (2) God the Son and (3) God the Spirit. Yet. Mormons worship many gods, in reality millions! Mormons say, our most recent god called the Father is none other than Adam. Yes, historic Mormonism claims Adam was the first spirit child born of a literal sexual relationship between God and one of his wives. 
   
   Thus Adam progressed to become a god, known as God the Father now in his glorified state. Therefore, God was once a man who walked and lived upon the Earth, who died and then became God. Brigham Young declared: "He (God) is our Father - the Father of our spirits, and was once a man in mortal flesh as we are, and is now an exalted being... there was never a time when there were no Gods" [Journal of Discourse, vol. 7, p 333]. Young clearly taught that Adam of the Garden of Eden is the father of our spirits, that Adam is the father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and the literal father of his body, and that Adam is our God. This is not now openly taught by the Mormon Church much anymore, and many Mormons are not aware it once was. Following from this, Mormons believe that it is possible for all good Mormon men to become a god.
   

2. THE SAVIOR OF MORMONISM IS NOT JESUS CHRIST – Joseph Smith wrote: “Jesus was married at Cana of Galilee , that Mary, Martha and others were his wives. And that he begat children.” (Journal of Discourses, p.210)  In addition, Mormonism teaches Jesus Christ is our elder brother who like Adam progressed to godhood, having first been procreated as a spirit child by ‘Heavenly Father’ and a heavenly mother; He was literally conceived by sexual intercourse between Heavenly Father as they call him and the Virgin Mary. 
   
   Mormons believe Jesus Christ was not born divine as he was the physical son of Adam god and Mary and that his life is no different from yours or mine. Moreover, Jesus’ death on a cross was only a partial basis of worthiness and eternal life, which further requires obedience to all commands of the Mormon Church, including exclusive Mormon temple rituals to be saved. Mormonism also teaches the blasphemous idea that Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Satan, whose spirit was procreated in the same way as Jesus making them equal.
   

3. THE MORMON CHURCH DENIES ORIGINAL SIN AND THE FALL – The sin of Adam and Eve in disobeying God thus bringing upon the whole human race the condemnation of sin and death was not a great evil as Scripture indicates according to Mormonism. Rather in Mormon teaching it was a necessary step in the plan of life and a great blessing to all. Mormonism says every human being can earn eternal life in the presence of God through obedience to all the commands of the Mormon Church. 
   
   This is known as “Eternal Progression,” which is the teaching that each of us has the potential to become a god just like God the Father did. He was once a man capable of physical death, was resurrected, and progressed to become a God. As such we humans can take a similar path and get all the power, glory, dominion, and knowledge that the Father and Jesus Christ have. We then will be able to procreate spirit children who will worship us as we do God the Father.
   

4. THE MORMON CHURCH CLAIMS GOD STILL APPOINTS  SPECIAL PROPHETS TO SPEAK TO US – From Joseph Smith onward, each leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been designated a prophet. Thus, there are still prophets (American, of course) till this day, joining the LDS. Did you know that all Mormon “stalkers” as they are called, carry a photo of the latest 10 or so of the Church’s apostles. Next time you meet one, ask them if you can see them. You'll find out that they look nothing like prophets of old. Instead, they live in luxury, wear clean new suits and ties, and are blindly given money by their followers.
   
   Over the past 200 years a number of people claimed to be God’s prophets. Charles Taze Russell (Jehovah’s Witnesses), Ellen G. White (7^th Day Adventists), Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science), and Joseph Smith (Mormonism) – all failed God’s test as they contradict each other, and the Word of God included! Jesus warned in Mat 7:15 that many false prophets would arise. We should not be surprised they are with us today promoting false religions.
   

5. THE MORMON CHURCH TEACHES THAT JOSEPH SMITH AND BRIGHAM YOUNG WERE GOD’S PROPHETS TO US TODAY – if Brigham Young and Joseph Smith, Jr., taught revelatory truth, why have many of their teachings been contradicted, changed, or abandoned?  To be a prophet from God, one must be able to predict the future with absolute accuracy (Deut 18:21 -22). To fail in even one prophetic utterance disqualifies one from being from God, and identifies them as spiritual imposters!  Yet in Smith’s case he prophesied many failed  and ridiculous prophecies, some as follows:

a)      HE PREDICTED THE COMING OF THE LORD – Smith declared the Lord would return to the earth in the year 1891. This obviously failed.

b)      HE PREDICTED THE U.S. GOVERNMENT WOULD BE OVERTHROWN -  Smith declared on May 6, 1843 that the United States government would be “utterly overthrown and wasted.” This failed.

c)      HE REVEALED THAT THERE WERE MEN ON THE MOON – Smith declared in 1837 by revelation that God revealed to him that men were living on the moon who dress like Quakers and lived to be 1000 years old. (LDS Publication, “Young Women’s Journal,” page 263)  Our moon landings proved this nonsense.

d)      PRIOR TO 1978 MORMONS WERE TAUGHT BY JOSEPH SMITH AND OTHER CHURCH PROPHETS THAT BLACKS WERE CURSED BY GOD – Black skin was supposed to be a sign of God’s displeasure. Smith taught Negroes are the “sons of Cain,” and as a result of rebellion Cain was cursed with dark skin and he became the father of Negroes (Mormon Doctrine, pp. 108-109, 1966 edition).  What utter nonsense and unbiblical teachings! As such, blacks were barred from inter-marriage, the Mormon priesthood and were segregated. But in 1978 after tremendous pressure, Mormon prophet Spencer W. Kimball claimed to receive a new revelation from God, that forgave the blacks and now they could as white folks enter the priesthood, intermarry and receive the same religious privileges. Amazing, does God give a decree and later contradict Himself?

e)      JOSEPH SMITH TAUGHT BY REVELATION THAT POLIGAMY WAS GOD’S WAY OF BUILDING THE FUTURE KINGDOM – Smith and other church leaders practiced polygamy until the Mormons had to abandon this by civil law. The doctrine of polygamy first appeared in (“Doctrine & Covenants,” Section 132:58-66); notes at the top of the section says that Joseph Smith received the revelation on polygamy on July 12, 1843 . However, in October 1890, God reversed himself, and gave a “new” revelation that forbid this practice. However some rogue Mormons polygamists, estimated at 30,000 to 50,000 who have separated from the mainstream Mormon religion live in Utah and other parts of the southwest, Mexico and Canada , and defy this changed revelation from God.

Well, the list could go on, but suffice it to say these revelations and teachings all failed and or were changed by supposed new revelations. The point of all this is Mormonism now is desperately trying to justify its existence and claim to be the only true Church of Jesus Christ. Yet, its foundation and teachings based on the corrupt ravings of an unethical, immoral man named Joseph Smith, leaves it in shambles for the discerning mind.

However contrary to this, the faith of true Christianity, historic Christianity, found today in those who hold the Bible to be the final, full and infallible revelation of God stands firm. No science, nor discoveries will ever be found to deny its teachings, its history, or debunk its greatest teaching of all – the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Yes my friend the message of the Bible is simple, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and GOD the Spirit. It He is one God, manifested in three personalities who work to save mankind.

1. JESUS CHRIST IS GOD COME IN HUMAN FORM TO RESCUE THE HUMAN RACE – Yes the story of the Bible is true and beautiful. God loved His fallen creatures so much that He chose to become part of the human race to qualify Himself to become the Savor of the world. The story is God by the Spirit fused God the Son into the physical person of Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary. There was no physical union of Mary with any god; it was a divine act of creation. The result of the formation of this miracle infinite-God-man-Jesus-Christ was a being who is 100% God and 100% man. Together, He offered up His infinite life as a payment for the sins of the world (John 3:16 )
   

2. ALL WHO LOOK TO JESUS CHRIST AND SURRENDER THEIR LIVES TO HIM AS THEIR GOD AND SAVIOR WILL BE SAVED – Yes, salvation, eternal life, forgiveness of sins, and the promise of God’s Spirit to live in us comes to all who surrender to Christ, red or yellow, black or white, because we are all precious in God’s sight. Salvation is not earned by obedience to Mormon teaching or temple rituals. The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. We are saved by grace through faith alone in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8-9). None of us can ever become gods, nor were we eternal preexistence spirit beings now housed in physical bodies through birth. Rather, we are the created effort of an uncreated God. However, God intended for us to live forever which sin destroyed, but which Christ restores to all who receive Him.

Friend have you received Jesus Christ into your life? Have you recognized Him not as a spirit brother just a bit higher and ahead of you, but as your Creator God? Our first father, Adam was and is no god! Nor is anyone else. God is God and there is none like Him. But you and I can become a living picture image of Him, as one yields himself to become conformed to His image through the Word of God, by the power of the Spirit of God.

Today make sure your faith, hope and trust is in the living true God, Jesus Christ, and that you are not following false religions fabricated by the false visions of false prophets. The Church of the Latter Day Saints, although financially powerful has suffered a blow from which it cannot heal. The DNA proving today that the American Indians are not descendants of some lost tribes of Israel debunks Joseph Smith revelatory teachings. No faith should ever be built on some INDIAN LORE, rather upon the firm foundation of God’s infallible Word and its foundation Jesus Christ. May God add His blessings to this talk today for Jesus sake, Amen…

… Today there is a documentary film out entitled: DNA & MORMONISM, produced by a Utah based Christian ministry showing the new DNA research that spells disaster for the Mormon Church. This film also reveals that there is no archeological evidence of the existence of the people described in the Book of Mormon, or any trace of the Hebrew language among modern Indians. The producers feel that the most fundamental tenets of Mormonism crumble in light of the evidence. “DNA vs. the Book of Mormon” sheds light on the lack of foundation for Mormon beliefs, and rebuts the LDS claim that the Book of Mormon is an historical document.

While the claims of Mormonism must be firmly rejected, Christians should reach out to Mormons with the "gentleness and respect." The Bible tells us, "in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to knowledge of the truth..." It is only by God’s grace that we in the Christian faith have been enlightened to God’s truth for the express purpose to love other people, even with their erroneous ways, that they might be saved.

Although Mormons believe that their church is ''the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth”; the only organization authorized by God to preach his gospel and administer the ordinances of salvation; the only Church which has the power to save'' (Mormon Doctrine , 1977 ed., p. 136), they must hear the truth!

Everyone needs to know that Mormon doctrine today either denies or perverts every essential doctrine of historic Christianity, including the uniqueness of Christ, the virgin birth, the Trinity, the authority of Scripture, and salvation by grace through faith. As such, it is not Christian, nor God’s restored faith, but false faith and false teaching that leads all its followers to a Christless eternity in Hell. May God grant forgiveness to all who follow in its evil ways, and new life in Christ as they turn to the one true living God Jesus Christ. Amen.
