I’m Dennis Finnan, host and speaker on the World, the Word & You! Broadcast and in a moment we’ll talk about where this is all going, and what God and society has to say about it…

…Last year our nation and the world for that matter received a stunning blow. No it was not another terrorist attack, nor an actual weather related catastrophe. Rather it was a societal and secular blow that came through what I believe were “rogue, outlaw justices,” sitting on the benches of the judicial courts of America . Last June 2003, in a stunning reversal from its 1986 decision upholding the rights of states to enact anti-sodomy laws, the U.S. Supreme Court, by a 6-3 vote, ruled to overturn a Texas law that banned sodomy, saying that it violated a right to privacy. The ruling reverses a 1986 Supreme Court decision, which said individuals have no federal constitutional right to engage in homosexual acts. Until the 1960s, every state used to prohibited sodomy. But, today's ruling invalidated the Texas law against "deviate sexual intercourse with another individual of the same sex."  Texas officials defended their law saying it promoted the institutions of marriage and family, and argued that communities have the right to choose their own standards. 

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the opinion for the majority, citing a “right to privacy” in his decision. Joining him in this “legislative” decision, were Justices John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer. This stunning ruling was only the beginning as lower courts ruled by other liberal, secularist justices would continue to overturn our nation’s laws that are based on Judeo-Christian ethics of righteousness for our nation and society. Now that this false constitutional right has been enacted by the U.S. Supreme Court, it was inevitable that another court in November of last year, followed, as in Massachusetts , which ruled and mandated state recognition of sodomite, or same-sex marriages.

Where is all this going? What are the ramifications of turning away thousands of years of societal order, morality and decency? What if anything does our Creator have to say about this? Well, after our second pause for another moment of music, I’ll tell you plainly in my message: LOVE, LUNATICS & LAW…

… Is marriage as we know it in jeopardy? Have our secularized, anti-god, liberal courts overturned our American constitution and authority? The answer to all those question is a resounding “YES!” It seems that in the past fifty years the judicial branch of government has been taken over by liberal anti-god, left wing radicals of our nation. They blatantly have no place in their lives for belief in a God over them as described for us in the Bible, the Creator God’s own revelation to mankind. As a result, liberals have been extremely frustrated by their inability to constitutionally change the Judeo-Christian laws our nation was founded upon. 

As such they’ve found a way to circumvent them by “legislating” new law through the judicial system. This outlaw actions of rogue justices has been effective and unchallenged. Drunk with  this new usurped power, they took  bold steps last year to overturn the nation’s sodomy laws and permit homosexual marriages that may begin this May 2004 in the state of Massachusetts . Should we as a nation be concerned about it? Perhaps those religious fanatics will cry out the loudest, but really is it anyone’s business what homosexuals choose to do between themselves, consensually? The answer is yes. Now let me tell you why. First, let’s define marriage itself.

For thousands of years, regardless of what society we find on earth, except for gross pagan tribes who have lived on the bottom of life, marriage was an institution that called for the coming together of a man and a woman for the purpose of establishing a home and eventually if able a family by procreation. This was often publicly recognized by a formal contract or covenant taken by both the husband and wife to mutually care for, love and respect one another; and, to consider themselves one single unit in the society in which they lived. America not unlike other civilized nations, confirmed this in its laws and statues. 

Why? Because, the purpose of promoting heterosexual marriage is for the benefit of all society. Marriage is the place where children are to be born and nurtured. Where children will grow up to see the love, care and protection of both sexes in a mutual relationship of oneness. When such marriages fail, children are the ones who suffer the greatest, not to mention communities which become plagued by a variety of social problems and ailments. In fact, an entire nation is soon put at risk if an overwhelming number of such heterosexual family relationships falter and fail. It’s amazing how four robed, unelected individuals arrogantly seizing power from the people of Massachusetts, overruled our nation’s founding law to impose what no elected legislative would dare consider.

Yet they have done so, by legalizing sodomite marriages as state sanctioned with all the benefits given to traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Now, is this because marriage is dying in our culture, and the old fashioned ideas have been done away with? Hardly! Marriage is one of the most fundamental human institutions and in the last fifty years of American history it has been challenged by an elite minority of sexual “perverts” known as homosexuals that amount to perhaps 2-5% of the American culture.

Civilization, like life itself, someone has said has “certain organic properties.” When these property are tampered with and altered, the organism ceases to function properly or even exist. Marriage, the union of a man and a woman, is “organic” to civilization. It is a healthful life-giving force to any society. When mutation of an organism results, it reaps unimaginable change for the worse. Such will be the outcome of our nation, unless our legislative branch, obeying the will of the people of this nation, doesn’t rise up and cut off the unlawful legislating cancerous arm of these rogue justices.

Now what are the reasons why society should only recognize heterosexual marriages? Here’s a listing for you to consider.

1.  HETEROSEXUAL MARRIAGE IS SOCIALLY & SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO BE HEALTHIER, HAPPIER AND MORE PROSPEROUS – Indeed, social science research has proven that marriage between a man and woman greatly benefit society by providing these important personal and societal pluses. Any nation that can promote health, happiness and prosperity benefits for its citizens is ahead of the game of life and continued existence.

2.  HETEROSEXUAL MARRIAGES PROVIDE HEALTHY WELL ADJUSTED CHILDREN – Children reared in a home environment with a mother and a father prove to lower the rates of social problems that plague society. For instance, pre-marital childbearing, promiscuity, illicit drug use, lawlessness, anti-social behavior problem, and school failure are less likely to occur in a traditional marriage setting verses a home where same sex partners pretend to be married. That’s a fact!

3.  HETEROSEXUAL MARRIAGES PROMOTE THE FINANCIAL WELL-BEING OF A NATION - More studies show that families headed by the marriage union of a man and a woman have much higher incomes and greater financial assets. This benefits any nation and society as compared to the increase of poverty that comes to other broken or deviant relationships.

4.  HETEROSEXUAL MARRIAGES PROVIDE THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE GROWTH AND FUTURE OF ANY NATION – No same sex marriages can reproduce children, nor pass on to them the healthy and natural way of procreating. The future of any nation depends upon its ability to reproduce healthy, well-adjusted, moral and law abiding new citizens. Only a heterosexual marriage that is bonded in love, affection, care and sacrificial concern can provide this.

There is no doubt, socially, and scientifically these proven truths are the foundation and cement of a prosperous healthy ongoing nation that can last through the ages. To defy this with same sex marriages will bring disaster to any nation as history proves. You know, there is no society of the past that began sanctioning homosexual marriages and relationships, that did not end in the dust of time. This of course is what God’s Word says explicitly. Listen,

Psa 9:17 “… all the nations that forget God, will be turned into the grave”.

5. HETEROSEXUAL MARRIAGES ARE A POSITIVE FORCE TO ENSURE PROSPERITY AND GOD’S BLESSINGS TO CONTINUE WITHIN OUR NATION -  The Bible makes it clear that when we obey the righteous laws of God, we are promised the blessings of God will flow in our nation, and among families for generations to come. God’s word promises us,

Prove 14:34 (NIV)  Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

The word exalt in the Hebrew language means: “to lift up, to cause to triumph.” Yes, God promises us nations that respect His laws for life and living, and follow them, will receive His continued blessings and care. America has been such a nation, not because anyone was righteous in and of themselves, but because together as a nation we opted to live by His laws for righteousness embedded in our land. But now we are throwing off the “fetters” that once held us to God. In so doing our nation will lose the longevity and blessing of God.

Indeed, God has much to say about marriage for He, the Creator of all life sanctioned it and commanded His highest creatures, mankind, to live by it. Listen to God’s Word on the matter,

Gen 1:26-28 (NIV)  Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness… 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it…”

We read in the beginning book of Genesis God gave us to learn of our origins, that God made human beings of the same stock and materials, yet delightfully different. He made male and female and both were to find each and cling to each other for a mutually shared life and relationship that pictured the very existence of God. Listen again to God’s Word,

Gen 2:22-25 “ Then the LORD God made a woman from the very body of Adam and brought her to him. 23 “At last,” Adam exclaimed. “She is part of my own flesh and bone! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of a man.” 24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. 25 Now, although Adam and his wife were both naked, neither of them felt any shame because there was no sin.

Gen 3:12 (NLT)  Adam admitted, “but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Gen 3:20 (NLT)  Then Adam named his wife Eve, because she would be the mother of all people everywhere.

 Here we are told a number of things pertinent to heterosexual relationships and marriage. First of all (1) God created the human race with different species of the same kind. All men and women are created in the image of God and are unlike any other creation in existence. Yet, God created the human race in two different forms, male and female and planned for them to come together not only sexually, but socially, emotionally, and spiritually too. Why? Because mankind is the image of God and that image can only be found when the two become one flesh. Jesus spoke of His Father’s will for heterosexual marriage when He said,

Mat 19:4-6 (NIV)  “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Marriage He implied is an institution commanded by God for the health, happiness and procreation of our species. To reject this and defy it by corrupting the very concepts and foundation of it is to bring the wrath and judgment of God. For instance God has been very explicit as to violating the sexual relationships of a man and a woman by substituting the same sex in its place. In the book of Genesis, we read that God destroyed entire cities that sanction, promoted and practiced openly homosexual acts. Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns were destroyed by God and wiped from the face of the earth. Listen to God’s Word again,

Luke 17:29 (NIV)  But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

Paul the apostle declared that when any society and individual begin sanctioning and publicly practicing homosexuality, God’s judgments begin to fall first on them and then the nation that approves such wickedness. Paul writes,

Rom 1:26-27 (NIV)  Because of this, [rejection of God’s order for society] God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Homosexuality is first of all a great sin against God, and secondly, a perversion of what God created and intended for human life. Moreover, it is a sin against society as it is the disease that will eat away the structure and basis of its growth, stability and future. If our nation doesn’t turn around and cry out in outrage against this judicial lawlessness, our nation is doomed as God’s Word says.

First, I believe we will experience the disintegration of homes and families. And honestly are we not already seeing this through the failure of marriages (more than 50 % a year are dissolved) and God’s command for a life long covenant relationship. Secondly, we shall see this more, when societal law will break down as a new generation, raised in non-traditional homes and environments have no standard themselves for a happy life and home. The result is increased lawlessness, brutal crime, rampant promiscuity, immorality and extreme selfishness. These are the very things that brought down the powerful nation of Rome itself, not to mention in God’s timing, that He has promised to destroy every nation that defies His physical and moral laws of nature and life.

What can we do? The answer is cry out to your legislative representatives, for every state to pass a MARRIAGE AMENDMENT that outlaws any marriages outside of heterosexual marriage. Secondly, we need to encourage congress to pass the FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT proposed in the House of Representatives, by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, from Colorado . This would amend the American Constitution to say, “Marriage in the Untied States shall consist only of the union of a man and woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.”

If we as a nation of people and families do nothing, and just ignore this godless push to eradiate the righteousness of our society that has blessed us with prosperity, we shall be doomed and future generations, if God tarries in judgment, will perish in and of itself.

The slippery slope engaged by the courts to approve and sanction same sex marriages will not end there either. Next, will come the challenge to the age old sin of polygamy (multiple marriage) and then polyamory( group marriage) and finally none at all!

Already challenges to the laws of polygamy have arisen, and more will come as we legalize and protect sodomy and bless sodomite marriages. Do we think God will spare our nation when nations of the past committed similar sins and were destroyed? Sodomite marriage will weaken and destroy the age-old institution that has been the cement of America . Marriage is not just a private affair. Every marriage society recognizes, is part of our public virtue that responsibly regulates human life and living. There is no doubt society benefits from the well-being of marriage. Nearly every dollar spent by our government in welfare is in reaction to failed marriages, corrupted anti-social behavior, and drug abuse. Ultimately the health and future of our nation rests firmly on the future and health of traditional monogamous families of male and female, with a core of children who are loved and care for. May God cause us to rise up and cry out against this madness, this lunacy and tyrannical imposition of a radical agenda of the left to destabilize American culture and shift it off the Judeo-Christian heritage to a godless, corrupt and depraved humanity that says, "We will not have this man Jesus Christ to reign over us." You see that’s the underlying issue. The Psalmist said it well,

Psa 2 (NIV)  Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. 3 “Let us break their chains,” they say, “and throw off their fetters.”… 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Psa 1 (NIV)  Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night… Whatever he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked!... 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Today I beg you to write your congressmen, write letters to the editor of newspapers, call into talk radio shows, and above all maintain a monogamous heterosexual covenant relationship of marriage yourself, rearing godly children to whom you can pass on a socially, spiritually and emotionally healthy heart and life. It is when we look to the Lord Jesus Christ, recognizing His sin payment given on the cross for our corrupt humanity and rebellion to God that we can be saved in eternity from the penalty of sin, but also in this life from the corruption and ruination it brings to us personally when we defy God’s laws for life. May God grant you a home and heart that seeks the one true God, Jesus Christ and His Word and way for life and living.
